Beard Growth Oil
One of our most frequently asked questions is, can beard oil help with beard growth?
The answer is yes.. just not in the way you might think.
Although nothing can change the rate at which your hair grows, the best beard products help create the ideal conditions for healthy growth. A healthy beard means less breakage, which means a thicker, fuller look faster than you would achieve without a high-quality beard product.
How It Works
Certain carrier oils and essetial oils promote beard growth naturally by treating the skin underneath your beard. This removes unwanted dead skin cells and other impediments to fast facial hair growth. The right beard product will penetrate your facial hair pores, enhancing your whiskerβs elasticity and stimulating speedy beard growth. In addition to these benefits, beard growing products contain naturally occurring antioxidants and vitamins and plant extracts that further strengthen your beard by repairing the damage done to the cellular membranes of your facial hair. The stronger and more resilient your beard is, the faster it will appear to grow.
Applying beard oil or beard jelly to your beard and the skin underneath also prevents that stubborn growing-in stubble itch, which can cause even the most beard-committed to give in to shaving before a full beard grows in.
How to Choose
Choosing the right beard products can seem overwhelming, but there are only a few key things you need to know to buy that will make your beard grow in fuller and healthier.
Beard care products need a few key ingredients to work, and its main ingredients should include a balnce of Oleic acid (also called Omega-9) is an acid our bodies can create whenever it has a caloric surplus, but linoleic acid (also called Omega-6) is an essential fatty acid that our bodies need but cannot create. Oleic acid and linoleic acid are different fatty acids but both are assets to our strands. Linoleic acid stimulates hair growth, maintains a healthy skin and scalp conditions, and will control water loss in your hair. Oleic acid will also control water loss in your strands while making your hair softer and more pliable.
Avoid beard oil with heavy carrier oils like olive oil or castor oil. These oils sit on top of the hair and can make it appear greasy.
Avoid oils that have a high comodogenic rating.
Choose beard care products that are scented with essential oils. Artificial fragrances can irritate both your lungs and your skin.
When to Use
Thereβs a common misconception that you should only use products on a beard thatβs already established. Those with barely-there facial hair who are hoping to grow a beard shouldnβt wait for facial hair to grow in before using beard oil. The right beard oil also makes a great moisturizer, so begin nourishing those potential beard hairs that are growing beneath the skin now so they can grow in strong, moisturized, and healthy. Apply daily and repeat throughout the day as needed depending on your climate, environment, and activity level to grow and maintain a strong, conditioned beard.
How to Apply
For best results, we recommend splashing a small amount of beard oil into your palm and massaging it into your skin and beard. Apply in the morning after washing and towel drying your beard, and again before bed. You can apply more throughout the day if you notice your beard feeling a little dry. In order to distribute the beard oil evenly through your facial hair, we recommend using a boars bristle beard brush or wooden comb. This also serves the important purpose of gently removing dry, dead skin cells that can clog pores, cause ingrown hairs, and prevent full beard growth.
